Highlights: From the Heart of Our Community, is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.
The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.
The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.
We interviewed Kristi Justice, Executive Director, Kanawha Communities That Care. She discussed their mission and purpose. KCTC mission is to increase awareness of the substance abuse-related problems and issues facing the youth and adults of Kanawha County, WV and to lead a long-term, dynamic community-wide effort to create a safe and healthy environment for all of their citizens, especially youth, through the development and maintenance of strong interventions that focus on the youth citizens and use scientific, research-based programs and services with measurable outcomes.

We also talked with Doug Carte, Manager of Kanawha County Schools Laidley Field.
Doug discussed the arrangement between Kanawha County Schools and the University of Charleston. KCS owns the stadium and the field, while the University of Charleston has the naming rights to the facility. UC plays all their home football games there. Laidley is also home of Capital High School and some Middle Schools in Charleston.
Doug talked with excitement about an upcoming event at Laidley Field scheduled for July 21, 2017. Nitro Circus is coming to Charleston.
Laidley Field will be the venue. Nitro Circus is the only action sports entertainment company that delivers the biggest and best, mind blowing cross platform entertainment for daredevils and risk taking wannabes in the spirit of fun, friendship and camaraderie. Lots of scooters, BMX, FMX, skateboards etc…So exciting.
